Kickoff Party: April 1

UPDATE: Our April 1st Kickoff Party was a huge success, with over 250 visitors circulating an estimated 7500 items, more than twice the library’s collection, in one day! Watch the press conference video here and see some pictures from the event here. BIG thanks to Carlene, Natalie, Sonia, Peter, and everyone who checked out books or helped out with the event, please keep visiting and checking out books all month long! More details, and some good news, soon!

On Monday, April 1, you are invited to:

CHECK OUT The Galewood-Montclare Library!

More than two years ago, our once-thriving neighborhood branch library was moved to a temporary location that lacks the resources to generate the circulation needed for growth and improvement. On April 1, join neighbors and community members for a day of action, and to check out of as many books as you can – up to 30 items per person!

Let’s literally check out the whole library, and let CPL know that demand exists in our neighborhood for a great branch library with great resources and programming.

This event kicks off a month-long effort to:

  • Increase circulation at the branch
  • Demonstrate to CPL that we love our library and want more space and programming
  • Create awareness in the community that the library is there, but needs serious TLC and more hours and resources to serve us.

Our hope is to build a movement that will bring our library into to the 21st Century.

Where: Galewood-Montclare Library, at the Rutherford Sayre Park Field House, 6871 W Belden Ave (map)
When: Monday April 1, 2013, 10am-6pm

Come check out books all day, but the best time to show up is between 5-6pm for our press conference, food/drinks, and friends.

Print out the flyer, and spread the word to your friends and neighbors!
