Thunder Mountain – Chicago’s Only Ski Resort

Chicago History Today is a fantastic blog about different aspects of the city’s past. Recently it published a great article about Thunder Mountain which was a short lived ski resort at the location of the Brickyard Shopping Center.  The resort was open for a couple of years in the late 1960s and the owners had grand plans for a chalet style hotel and a gondola to the top of the 285 foot run.
