Few Vacant Homes in Galewood and Montclare

While the number of vacant homes have increased all over the Chicago area Galewood and Montclare contain one of the lowest concentrations according to a Crains Chicago Business (registration may be required).    The rates are comparable with neighborhoods such as Lincoln Park, Lakeview and Lincoln Square.2013 vacant properties

Census tract 2505, which contains the area south of the railroad, north of North Avenue between Harlem Avenue and Narragansett Avenue, had 0.7% property vacant in 2013 out of 2,807.  In 2010 just 0.3% of properties were vacant.

Census tract 2504, which contains the area south of the railroad, north of North Avenue between Narragansett Avenue and Central Avenue,  had 2.3% property vacant in 2013 out of 1,573.   In 2010 just 1.2% of properties were vacant.

Census tract 8316 which contains much of Montclare had 0.9% property vacant in 2013 out of 2,240.  In 2010 just 0.5% of properties were vacant.
