Community Meeting Scheduled for July 30
An important all-community meeting is scheduled for Tuesday July 30 at Redeemer Church at 6:30 p.m. Meet your neighbors from Galewood, Montclare and Oak Park at Redeemer Church, 6740 W. North Avenue, to discuss important issues regarding North Avenue. The church is located at the corner of North and Oak Park Ave, Parking lot available in the lot adjacent to the church.
On the agenda is information about the proposed “banquet hall” Behind Closed Doors. The owner is applying for a zoning change at 6206 W. North Avenue that will allow them to operate as an alcohol-serving adult/private club, assuming they obtain a special use zoning permit. They would be able to serve liquor even though the precinct was voted dry because of alcohol related problems from a bar and the liquor store that were once located there. We believe that similar problems with crime, noise, trash, etc. will occur if liquor is served there again.
Learn about the ongoing lawsuit against the special use license granted to EZPawn, efforts to work for North Avenue revitalization and our new farmers market which will open in August 4th.
Please attend this all-important meeting!
